Domestic flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), which had been suspended due to continuous rainfall and adverse weather conditions, have resumed operations. The airport authority confirmed that all domestic take-offs and landings have returned to normal since this morning after an improvement in weather conditions.
According to TIA’s General Manager, Hansraj Pandey, flights that were halted from Saturday afternoon have now resumed. “The weather has improved since early morning, and regular flight operations are now underway,” Pandey.
Increased Passenger Flow at the Airport
With the normalization of flight operations, the number of passengers traveling through the domestic terminal has surged. Many travelers who were stranded due to Saturday’s flight cancellations are now heading to their destinations.
Airport officials reported that passenger movement has increased significantly as airlines clear the backlog of delayed travelers. Flights are being managed in coordination with airlines to ensure smooth operations and timely departures.
Weather Improves Across Major Cities
Following the improvement in weather, flights from TIA to Nepalgunj and Bhadrapur have already departed, while the weather conditions in Pokhara and Surkhet are also favorable for domestic air travel, according to Pandey. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology earlier reported that rainfall had gradually decreased across several regions, creating safer conditions for air traffic.
International Flights Unaffected
While domestic flights were suspended on Saturday due to poor visibility and continuous rain, international flight operations remained unaffected. The airport authority confirmed that international take-offs and landings continued regularly since Saturday evening.
TIA management has urged passengers to stay updated through official channels for the latest flight information and to arrive at the airport on time, as operations continue to stabilize after the weather disruption.
