A 11-member rope-fixing and route-opening team under the Expedition Operators Association Nepal successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest on 13 May 2026 (Baishakh 30, 2083), officially completing the route preparation and rope fixing for the 2026 spring mountaineering season.
The team, led by Mingma Dorjee Sherpa, reached the summit at around 10:25 AM and unfurled the flags of the Government of Nepal and EOAN, marking the completion of the critical task of establishing a safe climbing route for this year’s Everest expedition.

Critical Safety Route Prepared Under Extreme Conditions
The expedition team successfully fixed ropes and opened the climbing route despite highly challenging weather conditions, extreme altitude risks, and technical difficulties along the world’s highest peak.
Officials noted that the achievement reflects the courage, technical expertise, and dedication of the Sherpa community, who continue to play a vital role in high-altitude mountaineering operations in Nepal.
