To promote local identity and potential, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 15 is organizing the first Swayambhu Festival from Falgun 10 to 17.
The festival aims to highlight the ward’s natural beauty, man-made religious, cultural, and social structures, traditions, temples, stupas, monasteries, and ancient monuments. Ward Chairperson Ishwar Man Dangol stated in a press conference that the event will help promote lesser-known heritage sites as tourist attractions.

The festival will showcase locally produced goods, vegetables, fruits, woolen and other fiber-based clothing, and products made by individuals and organizations trained in entrepreneurship and livelihood programs.
The event will be held at Bhuinkhel Ground in Swayambhu, with an exhibition at Bhagwan Pau Dharma Chakra Park, including disaster management, search and rescue, and rehabilitation displays. Around 60 stalls will offer exhibitions and services.

Traditional musical instruments, paintings depicting cultural rituals from birth to death, Buddhist life stories, postal stamps, and currency will be exhibited. Additional attractions include traditional food stalls, health checkups, blood donations, Ranjana Lipi calligraphy, portrait painting, cultural performances, entertainment, and sports activities.
Swayambhu Maha Chaitya is the main landmark of Ward No. 15, which also houses significant sites such as Shantipur, Harati Mata Temple, Manjushri Saraswati Temple, Lakhu Tirtha, Sobha Bhagwati Temple, Saraswati Monastery along the Vishnumati River.
