Resunga Airport Grounded as Flights Are Suspended for Entire Falgun Month

There will be no flights at Resunga Airport throughout the month of Falgun. Nepal Airlines’ small aircraft had been operating flights at the airport.

According to Suman Thapa, head of Nepal Airlines’ Resunga office, flights have been suspended for now due to problems with the aircraft. Nepal Airlines has two small planes. “One aircraft was already out of service, and now the remaining one has engine issues, causing flight disruptions.

The aircraft is currently in Kathmandu for repairs,” he said. “There is no possibility of flights resuming in Falgun either,” Thapa added, adding that repairing the aircraft is taking time as parts need to be imported from abroad.

The last flight operated by Nepal Airlines at Resunga Airport was on the 24th of Mangsir, 2081 (Nepali calendar), on the Tamghas–Kathmandu route. Since the airport’s first flight on the 3rd of Baisakh, 2079, only 90 flights have taken place in nearly 20 months.

According to the station in charge of Thapa, among these flights, 1,165 passengers traveled on the Tamghas Kathmandu route, while 1,088 passengers flew from Kathmandu to Tamghas. The aircraft can carry up to 19 passengers per flight. Despite flight operations, there are only three staff members at the airport.
