Foundation Stone Laid for Jalapadevi Cable Car in Sudurpaschim Province

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Jalapadevi cable car at Karnali Chisapani in Kailali district on Saturday. The project, spanning 3.1 kilometers, will be constructed at Lamki Chuha Municipality-3 at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 billion.

During the ceremony, Minister Deuba expressed confidence in the cable car’s potential to significantly enhance the socio-economic and cultural development of Sudurpaschim Province. She highlighted the region’s rich cultural heritage, tourism potential, and biodiversity, emphasizing the progressive outlook and unity among its residents.

“The province is endowed with abundant natural resources and heritage. This project will be a stepping stone in harnessing these assets to benefit the local economy and tourism sector,” she remarked. Minister Deuba also urged the contractor company to complete the project on schedule and called for increased investment in the province to address its needs and unlock its potential.

Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi, also spoke at the event, stressing the urgent need for infrastructure development in the western region of Nepal, which lags behind in physical advancements. He encouraged the private sector to step up investments in infrastructure, noting its crucial role in the region’s progress.

Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister, Kamal Bahadur Shah, reaffirmed the provincial government’s full support for development initiatives and pledged to foster a conducive environment for investors. He called on stakeholders to work collaboratively to attract more investment to the region.

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of Jalapadevi Cable Car Pvt. Ltd., underscored the importance of tourism in driving the country’s socio-economic growth. He expressed hope that the cable car would become a key driver of economic activity, connecting the region’s cultural and natural attractions with broader tourism networks.

The Jalapadevi cable car is anticipated to be a transformative project for Sudurpaschim Province, enhancing accessibility to the region and contributing to its tourism and overall development.
