Heavy snowfall has been reported in the mountainous districts of Karnali Province, including Humla, since Friday night. The snowfall has covered Simkot, the district headquarters, and Namkha Rural Municipality, continuing through Saturday morning.
Despite the freezing temperatures and disruptions to daily life, farmers in the region have expressed relief. According to local resident Gaugora Bohara, this marks the third snowfall of the season, which is expected to benefit crops significantly.
However, the persistent snowfall has forced residents to remain indoors, with temperatures plunging below freezing. The extreme weather has also led to the disruption of flights, affecting transportation and connectivity in the remote district.
While the snowfall brings agricultural benefits, it also highlights the challenges faced by residents in coping with the harsh winter conditions.
