A cable car service will soon be operational from Chisapani in Kailali to Rajkanda, with construction set to commence this Saturday. The groundbreaking ceremony will be led by Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, as confirmed by operator Surya Bahadur Thapa.
Over 1,800 trees have already been felled for the project, and 20 bighas of land have been acquired under the name of Jalapadevi Cable Car. The cable car will span a total length of 3.1 kilometers and is being built with an investment of 7 billion rupees. The project will feature 15 towers and 34 gondolas, with a travel time of 10 minutes, Thapa noted.
The cable car ride will offer stunning views of several religious and tourist sites including Karnali River, Jalapadevi, Kalbhairab, Kalikadevi, Kailash Dham, and Hatti Dhunga. Additionally, 2% of the total revenue generated from the cable car will be allocated to the local government.
Along with the cable car, new infrastructure will be developed, including a 50-bed hotel in Chisapani and a 100-bed hotel and conference hall in Rajkanda. The bottom station of the cable car will be situated in Karnali Chisapani.
The cable car project is expected to significantly boost tourism and contribute to the economic development of the Sudurpashchim region.
