The “GAI Food, Beverage and Hospitality 2026” exhibition has officially begun at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu from Thursday, bringing together key stakeholders from Nepal’s rapidly growing hospitality and food industry.
Organizers said the event is more than just a trade exhibition, describing it as a comprehensive platform for hotel, restaurant, and cafe (HoReCa) entrepreneurs to explore innovations in design, décor, kitchen equipment, and the latest technologies shaping the sector.

Platform for Business Growth and Networking
The expo aims to connect retailers, suppliers, and producers under one roof, offering opportunities to negotiate prices, build partnerships, and expand distribution networks. Food producers are expected to benefit from direct exposure to buyers, while retailers can explore new supply chains and emerging products.
The event also includes live demonstrations, networking sessions, and special programs such as the “Retailers Brunch Meet,” which organizers believe will make it one of the largest annual gatherings of hospitality professionals in Nepal. The exhibition will continue until Saturday.
Established as Nepal’s ‘Business Hub’ for Hospitality Sector
Building on the success of its previous editions, the expo has already established itself as a key “business address” for Nepal’s food and hospitality industry. In 2024, the event saw participation from more than 300 companies and attracted over 30,000 visitors.
With the slogan emphasizing face-to-face interaction as the most effective way to conduct business, the 2026 edition aims to bring the entire supply chain together and help define the future direction of the industry.

Growing Industry with Strong Employment Impact
Nepal’s food and hospitality sector has seen steady growth in recent years. Currently, more than 25,500 establishments are in operation nationwide, providing employment to approximately 94,000 people.
The hotel and resort segment is also expanding rapidly, with expectations that over 25 new star-rated hotels will come into operation within the next two years. This growth has been further supported by a rise in international tourism. In 2023, Nepal welcomed more than 1.2 million tourists, boosting demand for fine dining, premium services, and luxury accommodation.
Technology and Sustainability Driving the Future
Industry experts at the expo highlighted that the 2026 market will be largely driven by advancements in technology and a strong focus on sustainability.
Practices such as the use of locally sourced ingredients, organic production, and waste reduction are becoming key priorities for businesses. At the same time, digital transformation is reshaping operations, with QR code menus, cloud kitchens, and AI-powered hotel services increasingly becoming mainstream. These innovations are expected to enhance efficiency, improve customer experience, and support long-term sustainable growth in the sector.

Emerging Trends and Export Potential
With the growing popularity of wellness and experiential tourism, new product categories are gaining traction. Specialty coffee, craft beer, and herbal infusions are emerging as high-potential export products from Nepal. Stakeholders believe that such niche offerings can help Nepal strengthen its position in the global food and beverage market while also promoting local identity and craftsmanship.
Shaping the Future of Hospitality in Nepal
The GAI Food, Beverage and Hospitality 2026 expo is expected to play a significant role in shaping the future of Nepal’s hospitality industry by fostering innovation, collaboration, and investment. By bringing together key players across the value chain, the event not only highlights current trends but also sets the stage for a more sustainable, technology-driven, and globally competitive industry.
