President Ram Chandra Paudel has presented the government’s Policy and Programme for the upcoming fiscal year, emphasizing the development of Nepal as a leading global destination for adventure tourism.
Addressing a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Monday, President Paudel read out the full 46-page policy document, outlining plans to strengthen tourism infrastructure, safety standards, and international promotion strategies.

Adventure Tourism Infrastructure and Safety Standards to Be Strengthened
The government has announced a comprehensive plan to promote Nepal as an attractive destination for adventure tourism by enhancing infrastructure and ensuring strict safety standards across all major activities.

The policy includes strengthening systems for mountaineering, trekking, rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping, and skydiving, along with improved international promotion efforts. Authorities aim to develop a new tourism ecosystem based on nature, culture, and community participation.

New Tourism Destinations and Regional Focus
The government has prioritized the development and promotion of new tourism destinations, particularly in the Karnali Province, Sudurpashchim Province, Madhesh Province, and Koshi Province. Under the policy, at least ten new trekking routes will be identified and promoted across the Himalayan, mid-hill, and Terai regions to diversify tourism offerings and attract more visitors.

Tourism Board to Be Restructured
The government also plans to restructure the Nepal Tourism Board under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The aim is to make the institution more innovative, efficient, and responsive to the changing dynamics of the global tourism market.
Officials believe these reforms will significantly boost Nepal’s tourism competitiveness and help position the country as a world-class adventure tourism hub.
