The government has announced that community-operated homestays will be further promoted by linking them with tourism activities, local arts, culture, and traditional practices. The initiative aims to strengthen income generation and employment opportunities, particularly for marginalized and Dalit communities, by integrating them into the tourism value chain.

“Living Museum” Concept to Be Implemented

As part of cultural preservation and tourism diversification, the policy introduces the concept of a “living museum,” which will showcase Nepal’s living heritage through local communities and traditions.

The government plans to develop at least 5,000 new homestays under the branding of “Nepal Homestay,” which will be connected to an online booking platform to improve accessibility for both domestic and international tourists.
