The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has stepped up preparations for this year’s World Tourism Day, with HAN President Binayak Shah attending the Main Organizing Committee’s meeting held at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) this afternoon.
Digital Innovation at the Heart of World Tourism Day
The celebration will be organized around this year’s theme, “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” highlighting the growing role of technology, innovation and digital transformation in reshaping the global tourism industry.

The theme is expected to draw attention to how artificial intelligence and digital technologies can be used to improve tourism services, enhance visitor experiences, strengthen destination promotion and create new opportunities across the tourism value chain.
HAN Proposes Wellness Cuisine Promotion
During the meeting, HAN proposed promoting wellness tourism activities as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations. A key focus of the proposal is the promotion of “Wellness Cuisine”, with hotels encouraged to showcase and serve food and beverages aligned with wellness and healthy tourism.

The initiative aims to connect Nepal’s growing wellness tourism potential with the hospitality sector while highlighting locally available cuisine and wellness-oriented experiences.
Special Packages for World Tourism Day Visitors
HAN has also proposed offering a special discounted package for tourists arriving in Nepal on World Tourism Day. The initiative is intended to provide additional incentives for visitors while encouraging hotels and other tourism businesses to participate actively in the celebrations.
The special offers could also help create greater visibility for Nepal as a welcoming destination and encourage tourism-related businesses to engage with the international day.

#NepalCalling and #NepalNow to Drive Digital Campaign
As digital promotion remains a central component of this year’s theme, campaigns including #NepalCalling and #NepalNow will also be promoted as part of the World Tourism Day digital campaign.
The campaigns are expected to strengthen Nepal’s online tourism presence and communicate the country’s tourism experiences to domestic and international audiences through digital platforms. The initiatives discussed at the meeting reflect a broader effort to combine digital innovation, artificial intelligence, wellness tourism, and hospitality in this year’s World Tourism Day celebrations.
