Heavy Snowfall Begins in Humla District; Flight Services Affected

Heavy snowfall has started in the mountainous district of Humla since Thursday morning. Snow has fallen in the high-altitude areas of Namkha Rural Municipality and the district headquarters in Simkot.

The snowfall has accumulated thickly in areas such as Limi, Chala, Yalbang, Yari, and Muchu in Namkha Rural Municipality. Similarly, in the southern parts of Humla, including Sarke Gad, Chankheli, Adanchuli, and Tajakot Rural Municipalities, rainfall has occurred. Due to the snowfall, flights from Nepalgunj and Surkhet have been disrupted, and flights from Tara, Sita, and Summit Airlines have been halted.

Although it rained all night, the snow began to accumulate on the ground from 7 AM. The onset of snow has brought a drastic drop in temperature.

Resident Lakshman Aidi mentioned that the cold increased significantly after the snowfall started. While only rain occurred overnight, the snow began accumulating in the morning, he added. Farmers in the area have felt relief due to the snow. In the southern region, rainfall was reported from Chankheli Rural Municipality-1 by Tilak Bohara.
