British Explorer Mitch Hatchcraft Ready for Legendary Everest Ascent

Renowned British adventurer Mitch Hatchcraft has arrived in Kathmandu, gearing up for his most challenging and historic climb ascending Mount Everest. Hatchcraft, who has completed numerous extreme adventures, was warmly welcomed by AGI Adventure with a special event organized in his honor.

The event, attended by the Nepal-Britain Society (NBS) and Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), focused on Mitch Hatchcraft’s remarkable journey and his plans. The adventurous Brit has accomplished extraordinary feats, including swimming across the 34-kilometer-long English Channel, cycling 12,000 kilometers from France to West Bengal, and completing a 1,000-kilometer run from India to Kathmandu.

After a few days of rest, Mitch Hatchcraft will prepare for the ultimate challenge: summiting Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak. In collaboration with AGI Adventure, he will first trek to Everest Base Camp before beginning his climb under the guidance of world-record-holding Nepali mountaineer Gyalje Sherpa. If successful, Hatchcraft will set a new world record for the longest Everest summit expedition.

The event was attended by Pratima Rana Pandey, leader of the Nepal-Britain Society, and Ramchandra Sedai, CEO of TAAN, who expressed their admiration for Hatchcraft’s courage. Purna Lopchan, the organizer, expressed pride in welcoming Hatchcraft to Nepal, calling his journey a symbol of bravery, endurance, and unbreakable will.

During the event, Hatchcraft shared his experiences and motivation, stating, “Nepal’s culture, the beauty of the mountains, and the kindness of the people have deeply inspired me. The upcoming challenge is tough, but I am ready for it.”

If successful, Hatchcraft’s Everest ascent this spring will not only mark a personal achievement but will also stand as a historic moment for British adventurer history and Nepalese mountaineering traditions. According to Lopchan, such international expeditions are expected to boost Nepal’s tourism and mountaineering industry, creating more opportunities.
