Humla Witnesses Significant Snowfall, Life Disrupted

Humla district has experienced heavy snowfall since Monday night, disrupting normal life across various areas. While the weather remained clear until Monday afternoon, snowfall began later that night, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) Narayan Pandey.

The district headquarters, Simkot, recorded up to two inches of snow, while the higher altitudes, including northern Namkha Rural Municipality, saw accumulations of up to one foot. The snowfall has caused a significant drop in temperature, plunging below freezing in Simkot, and led to complications in movement across the region.

Several villages in Namkha Rural Municipality, such as Limi, Yari, Halji, Til, and Hilsa Chala, have been severely affected. Rainfall has also been reported in the southern part of the district, further complicating daily activities.

CDO Pandey has urged residents, particularly the elderly and children, to take precautions during the extreme weather. He also warned of potential avalanches in surrounding settlements, advising people to remain vigilant.

The district is currently grappling with intensified cold, posing challenges to daily life and movement across Humla.
