The Pathibhara Area Development Committee in Taplejung has announced plans to construct an attractive gateway to the Pathibhara Temple using bells offered by devotees. According to the committee’s Executive Director, Prajin Hangbang, the decision aims to utilize the large number of bells accumulated at the temple to enhance its aesthetic appeal and promote religious tourism.
“We have a substantial collection of bells, and we plan to create a unique gateway entirely out of them. This initiative is expected to attract religious tourists and boost tourism in the region,” Director Hangbang stated.
Initially, the committee had considered auctioning the bells but opted for the gateway project based on suggestions from locals and visitors. The new plan aligns with the feedback received and seeks to amplify the temple’s cultural and religious significance.
The committee has also assured that bells of historical and archaeological value will be preserved to safeguard the cultural heritage of the Pathibhara area. These efforts aim to educate future generations about the temple’s historical artifacts and their importance.
Executive Director Hangbang emphasized that the bell gateway would not only beautify the Pathibhara trekking route but also enrich the region’s religious and cultural landscape. Currently, the temple holds over 50 quintals of bells, which will be used for the project.
The initiative underscores the committee’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage while promoting tourism in one of Nepal’s most revered religious sites.
