The Kathmandu Metropolitan City found an idol while cleaning the Bishnumati River. Authorities suspect it may belong to the Bhim Mukteshwar Temple, and the Department of Archaeology will study and verify it. Local heritage activists claim the idol is the missing Kamdev (Chhatra Chandeshwori, Lakulish) statue from the temple.

The city is now working to confirm its origin and restore it to its original place. The idol was discovered on March 9 during the city’s river cleanup initiative. It was buried under debris near the Kalimati Bridge and has been placed in the city police office for safekeeping. Though intact, the idol’s fine details have eroded due to prolonged exposure to water.
