An eight-member international climbing team successfully scaled Mt. Himlung Himal (7,126 meters) on October 14, 2025, marking yet another notable ascent in Nepal’s autumn mountaineering season. The expedition was organized and managed by Imagine Nepal Treks & Expedition, one of Nepal’s leading adventure companies.
According to the company, the climbers reached the summit at approximately 7:00 a.m. Nepal time, enjoying clear weather and favorable conditions throughout the ascent. The team consisted of four Chinese climbers, Huan Dong, Li Yitong, Zhang Haodu, and Liu Yishi, and four Nepali climbers, Angdu Sherpa, Lhakpa Tamang, Jit Bahadur Sherpa, and Jangbu Sherpa.
Successful Collaboration Between Nepal and China
This successful expedition is another testament to the growing collaboration between Nepalese and Chinese mountaineers. Such partnerships not only strengthen the relationship between the two neighboring nations but also highlight Nepal’s continued position as a global hub for mountain adventure and high-altitude training.

Imagine Nepal Treks & Expedition praised both the climbers and the guiding Sherpa team for their teamwork, endurance, and professionalism throughout the climb. “The Himlung ascent showcases the perfect blend of technical skill, discipline, and cross-border cooperation in the spirit of Himalayan adventure,” said a company representative.
A Mountain of Beauty and Challenge
Mt. Himlung Himal, standing tall at 7,126 meters, lies in the Manaslu region of north-central Nepal, close to the Tibetan border. The mountain overlooks the remote and culturally rich Nar-Phu Valley, one of the least-explored regions of the country.
Although not as technically demanding as other Himalayan giants, Himlung Himal presents its own challenges, including crevasse navigation, exposure to high-altitude weather, and a steep summit push. Its moderate difficulty makes it an excellent choice for climbers who are transitioning from 6,000-meter peaks to 8,000-meter expeditions.
The climb typically involves setting up three high camps above the base camp, with the final summit bid requiring a pre-dawn start under freezing conditions. Clear skies on summit day allowed the climbers to enjoy sweeping views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Manaslu, and other Himalayan peaks.
Ideal Training Ground for Aspiring Himalayan Climbers
Over the past decade, Himlung Himal has become a preferred training peak for mountaineers preparing for more technically demanding climbs, including Mt. Everest, K2, and Manaslu. Its combination of technical routes, high altitude, and manageable logistics make it a natural progression step for professional and amateur climbers alike.
Expedition operators such as Imagine Nepal have played a crucial role in promoting safe and sustainable mountaineering in this region. The company’s commitment to ethical climbing practices, proper acclimatization, and environmental protection has earned it international recognition.
Cultural and Environmental Significance
Beyond its climbing appeal, the Himlung region holds immense cultural and ecological significance. The Nar-Phu Valley, often described as “Nepal’s hidden gem,” is home to ancient Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, traditional stone villages, and yak herding communities. The trek to Himlung base camp passes through these settlements, offering climbers a glimpse into the unique lifestyle and hospitality of the high-Himalayan people.
Environmental experts emphasize the importance of maintaining ecological balance in these fragile mountain ecosystems. With rising adventure tourism, local authorities and expedition companies are being urged to adopt stricter waste management and conservation measures to preserve the pristine environment.
Nepal’s Mountaineering Season in Full Swing
The autumn season, from September to November, is one of the most active periods for mountaineering in Nepal. Favorable weather and stable conditions make it ideal for high-altitude expeditions across the Himalayas.

According to the Department of Tourism, dozens of teams are currently attempting peaks above 7,000 meters this season, including Himlung, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri. The success of the Himlung expedition adds to the growing number of international summits this year, reinforcing Nepal’s position as the ultimate destination for world-class climbing adventures.
Following their successful climb, the team expressed deep gratitude to their Sherpa guides and the Imagine Nepal support crew. “Standing on top of Himlung Himal was not just a moment of achievement but a reminder of what teamwork and perseverance can accomplish,” said climber Huan Dong in a statement shared by the company.
Similarly, Nepali guide Angdu Sherpa remarked, “Every successful ascent is a tribute to the spirit of the mountains and the dedication of all climbers who respect and revere these sacred peaks.” As the group descended safely to base camp, their success became an inspiration for climbers around the world, proving that courage, unity, and preparation remain the keys to conquering even the highest of challenges.
