The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) All-Women Expedition 2026 has successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest, achieving a 100 percent success rate, expedition organisers confirmed on Thursday. The successful ascent marks a significant milestone in high-altitude mountaineering, showcasing endurance, discipline, and the growing strength of women in extreme adventure sports.
Summit Push Led from Early Morning
According to expedition officials, summit attempts began at around 8:00 AM on Thursday, with team members reaching the top in phases under favorable weather conditions. The expedition was led by Team Leader Bhanita Timungpi, Climbing Leader Anoop Kumar, and Expedition Sirdar and IFMGA Guide Sonam Chhiring Lama, who coordinated the final push to the summit. Expedition Director Chhang Dawa Sherpa of Seven Summit Treks confirmed the successful ascent and praised the team’s coordination and determination.

The Indian climbers who successfully reached the summit include: Anoop Kumar (Climbing Leader), Padma Tundup, Kapil Dev, Stanzin Chorol, Disket Chhorol, Dechen Spalzes, Kunzang Lamo, Gnersongmit Lepcha, Ruchi, Prabina Rai, Anju Rani, Tila Sen, Rupamoni Gorh, and Lobsang Choten.
Sherpa Support Team Reaches Summit Safely
The expedition was strongly supported by an experienced Sherpa team, who played a crucial role in route fixing, logistics, and summit safety. Sherpa summiteers include: Chhiring Sonam Lama (UIAGM Guide/Sirdar), Pasang Bhote, Jangbu Sherpa, Dawasange Sherpa, Karma Gyalje Sherpa, Pema Thinduk Sherpa, Mingma Dorchi Sherpa, Pimba Nurpu Bhote, Jamling Bhote, Chhedar Bhote, Chhembi Bhote, Nima Sherpa, Pas Dukpa Sherpa, Tenji Sherpa, Phurenje Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, and Chhiring Bhote.
Celebration of Women’s Strength in Mountaineering
Expedition Director Chhang Dawa Sherpa congratulated the entire team, calling the achievement an inspiring moment for women in mountaineering. “We warmly congratulate the entire ITBP team on this inspiring achievement. This success beautifully reflects the strength and courage of women in high-altitude mountaineering,” he said. The expedition also included Associate Team Members Dr Aravind Prasannan and CT-Med Prem Prakash, who provided essential medical and logistical support throughout the climb.
Seven Summit Treks as Logistics Partner
The expedition was supported by Seven Summit Treks, which served as the official logistics partner. In a statement, the company said it has long supported Indian government expeditions in the Himalayas and expressed pride in being part of the historic all-women team.

Organisers have wished the entire team a safe and successful descent back to Base Camp, as climbers begin their return journey after completing the historic summit.
