Lakpa Sherpa Triumphs on Annapurna I, Extends Legendary Himalayan Climbing Legacy

Guinness World Record holder Lakpa Sherpa, widely known in the mountaineering community as “Makalu Lakpa,” has successfully summited Annapurna I on April 18, marking another major achievement in his distinguished climbing career.

With this successful ascent, Lakpa Sherpa has now climbed eight of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 meters, moving one step closer to completing the prestigious mountaineering challenge known as the 14 Eight-Thousanders.

Successful Ascent of Annapurna-I

Lakpa Sherpa confirmed that the expedition to Annapurna I was conducted under the organization of 14 Peaks Expeditions Pvt. Ltd.. Speaking about the achievement, he said, “I climbed Annapurna-I, the world’s tenth-highest mountain, as part of an expedition organized by 14 Peaks Expeditions Pvt. Ltd.” The summit marks a continuation of his long-standing pursuit of the world’s highest mountains.

An Impressive Record in the Himalayas

Lakpa Sherpa is among the most experienced high-altitude climbers in Nepal, with an extensive record across major Himalayan peaks. He has successfully summited Mount Makalu eight times, Manaslu four times, and Lhotse three times. He has also reached the summit of Cho Oyu twice and Mount Everest once. In addition, he has climbed Dhaulagiri and Kangchenjunga once each, further strengthening his reputation as a highly skilled and consistent high-altitude climber.

Among Nepal’s Complete 8,000ers Climbers

Having already completed ascents of all 8,000-meter peaks located in Nepal, Lakpa Sherpa now needs to scale the remaining peaks located in China and Pakistan to complete all 14 highest mountains in the world. This spring climbing season, Lakpa Sherpa has set an ambitious target of summiting three major peaks, Annapurna I, Makalu, and Mount Everest, within a single season.
