Minister Thakuri Stresses Tourism for Growth, Honors Bhairab Rijal

The Minister of Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has expressed the view that the country can achieve prosperity by stimulating economic activities through the development of the tourism sector.

While laying the foundation stone for the ‘Swang Resort’ in Ghampedan, Gundhu, Suryabinayak Municipality-7, Bhaktapur, today, he stated that the development of the tourism sector is the backbone of the country’s economic growth.

Minister Thakuri emphasized that the promotion, preservation, and development of the tourism sector are essential to attract tourists, which will help in the journey toward building a prosperous nation. He also mentioned that Bhaktapur has many tourist sites, and everyone should work together and coordinate to promote tourism in the area.

The resort, built at a total cost of Rs. 7 billion, has investments from former NRN Chairman Shesh Ghale and businessman Amrit Ratna Shakya. At the event, Health Minister of Bagmati Province Kiran Thapa, Politburo member of the Nepal Communist Party (UML) Mahesh Basnet, and other speakers mentioned that the promotion of tourism would further stimulate economic activity in the Suryabinayak Municipality.

“The Contribution of Bhairab Rijal in Journalism Should Never Be Forgotten”

Narayanman Bijukche, the president of the Nepal Labor Farmer Party, stated that the late senior journalist Bhairab Risal’s contributions to the field of journalism should never be forgotten.

Speaking at a memorial event organized by the Journalists’ Society of Nepal today, he expressed that the state should highly appreciate the contributions made by Risal in the development of Nepali journalism. He added that even in the later years of his life, Risal strengthened his pen and set an example of impartial journalism.

In the program, Members of Parliament, including Prem Suwal, along with other speakers, paid tribute to Risal and praised his contributions. A tribute was also offered to Bhairab Risal at the event.
