First Mundhum Ultra Trail Race to Promote Adventure Tourism in Bhojpur

In a bid to promote adventure tourism and highlight the region’s rich culture, the first-ever Mundhum Ultra Trail Race is set to take place in Bhojpur. The event, scheduled from Mangsir 20–22, 2082 B.S., aims to showcase local cuisine, traditional culture, and the distinctive identity of the region to both national and international audiences.

A 60-Kilometer Challenge Across the Great Mundhum Trail

The ultra-trail will span 60 kilometers, starting from Hatuwagadhi’s Kopche and concluding at Tawabhyang. The route forms part of the Great Mundhum Trail, offering runners a unique opportunity to experience the scenic landscapes and cultural heritage of Bhojpur.

According to Rabin Thapa, Secretary of the Mundhum Trail Race Organizing Committee, the race will begin from the lowest point in Bhojpur, 153 meters at Mybeni Kopche, and will traverse through rugged terrains up to Tawabhyang.

First-Time Collaboration Between Three Rural Municipalities

The race is being jointly organized by Ramprasad Rai, Hatuwagadhi, and Aamchowk Rural Municipalities, marking the first time the three southern Bhojpur municipalities are hosting such an event. The organizers have prepared a detailed plan to ensure a safe, organized, and impactful race. Prem Kumar Rai, Chairperson of Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality, emphasized that the event aims to boost community participation and adventure tourism in the region.

National and International Participation Expected

The race is expected to draw both national and international runners, with a target of 100 participants, according to Pabihang Rai, President of Rimachung Education and Sports Academy. The route will cover Hatuwagadhi-9 Mybeni Kopche, passing through Bayang-Thamdanda in Aamchok and finally crossing Pamkhang-Bhyang-Kapase-Selme-Panchdhare-Tawabhyang in Ramprasad Rai Rural Municipality, as outlined by the municipality chairperson Thambahadur Rai.

Promoting Tourism and Cultural Heritage

The three municipalities have collectively allocated NPR 15 lakh for the event, contributing NPR 5 lakh each, as stated by Ashok Rai, Chairperson of Aamchok Rural Municipality. The organizers aim to promote tourism, preserve cultural heritage, and develop the Mundhum Trail area, while offering runners and visitors an unforgettable adventure experience.
