NATTA Gandaki Province Concludes 30th AGM Amid Focus on Tourism Development

The 30th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Gandaki Province concluded successfully on Sunday, drawing stakeholders, industry leaders, and government representatives to discuss and chart the future of tourism in the region. The meeting was inaugurated by Dhanraj Acharya, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, who underscored the city’s strategic importance in Nepal’s tourism landscape.

Mayor Highlights ‘Pokhara Visit Year’ Initiatives

During the inaugural session, Mayor Acharya emphasized the significance of the recently declared Pokhara Visit Year, aimed at promoting tourism and attracting investment across Gandaki Province. “Several programs have been launched under the Pokhara Visit Year initiative to enhance tourism infrastructure, boost visitor experiences, and stimulate the local economy,” said the Mayor. He highlighted that the declaration of Pokhara as the tourism capital has already attracted substantial investments and created new opportunities for the growth of hospitality, adventure tourism, and allied sectors in the province.

NATTA’s Role in Tourism Development

Kumarmani Thapaliya, President of NATTA Center and member of the Nepal Tourism Board, underlined NATTA’s pivotal role in promoting and supporting tourism initiatives nationwide. “NATTA is a cornerstone of Nepal’s tourism sector, fostering professional standards, encouraging innovation, and facilitating collaborations between private enterprises and government agencies,” Thapaliya remarked. His address highlighted the continuous efforts of NATTA to expand the reach and impact of tourism-related programs in all provinces of Nepal.

Rudra Devi Sharma, Chief District Officer of Kaski, acknowledged Pokhara’s status as one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations and emphasized the administration’s ongoing commitment to maintaining peace and security. “The safety of both domestic and international tourists remains our top priority. We are working diligently to provide a secure environment to ensure positive visitor experiences and sustainable tourism development,” Sharma stated.

Provincial Initiatives and Support

NATTA Gandaki Province President Kishor Dahal reiterated the organization’s dedication to supporting tourism promotion in Pokhara and surrounding regions. “Our organization has continuously offered guidance, advocacy, and logistical support to local tourism enterprises. We aim to strengthen Gandaki Province’s position as a premier travel destination through innovative programs and partnerships,” Dahal added.

Honoring Excellence in Tourism Journalism

A key highlight of the AGM was the presentation of the Manohara Sigdel Memorial Tourism Award. Chiranjivi Kafle, Manager of Holiday Adventure Tours and Travels, was honored for his outstanding contributions to tourism reporting and advocacy. The award, established in memory of Manohara Sigdel by former NATTA Gandaki Province President Sanjay Kanta Sigdel, includes a monetary reward of Rs 10,000 along with a certificate funded from a Rs 111,000 revolving fund. The initiative recognizes the dedication and achievements of NATTA member enterprises and professionals who contribute significantly to the sector.

President Kishore Dahal, along with the organizing committee, skillfully coordinated the award ceremony, highlighting the importance of recognizing talent and excellence in tourism journalism. The event also conveyed appreciation and good wishes for successful professional careers to award recipients, celebrating their accomplishments within the tourism community.

The AGM featured detailed reports from NATTA Gandaki Province leadership. General Secretary Chetan Karki presented the Secretary’s report, outlining the achievements of the past year, ongoing projects, and future initiatives aimed at strengthening the province’s tourism framework. Treasurer Subash Pahari delivered the financial report, emphasizing transparency and accountability in resource management.

The meeting drew a diverse array of stakeholders, including Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, Coordinator of the Pokhara Visit Year 2025 Executive Committee; Taranath Pahari, President of Pokhara Tourism Council; Mohan Sharma Lamichhane, President of NATTA Madhesh Province; Chandra Thapa, President of NATTA Lumbini Province; and Shivahari Pandey, General Secretary of NATTA Sudurpaschim Province. Also present were Sonu Yadav of Bihar Tourism and Laxman Subedi, President of Hotel Association Pokhara, reflecting strong regional, national, and international collaboration within the tourism sector.
