After a five-month break in regular service, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has resumed four weekly flights to Resunga Airport in Gulmi district starting today. According to Suman Thapa, Chief of the NAC Resunga Station, the airline will now operate flights on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, restoring the pre-maintenance schedule.
Regular Operations Back on Track
For the past five months, air services at Resunga Airport were limited to once a week on Thursdays after the grounding of Nepal Airlines’ Twin Otter aircraft due to technical issues. The aircraft has now undergone full maintenance and is back in operation, enabling the airline to reinstate regular flights. Chief Thapa confirmed that the 19-seater Twin Otter will continue to serve the Kathmandu–Resunga–Kathmandu route, ensuring reliable connectivity between the capital and Gulmi district.

Updated Flight Schedule and Fare Details
As per the new schedule, the Twin Otter departs Kathmandu at 6:30 a.m. and returns from Resunga at 7:30 a.m.. The fare has been set at NPR 7,500 from Kathmandu to Gulmi and NPR 7,300 from Gulmi to Kathmandu, according to the NAC office.
The early morning timing has been chosen for safety reasons, as strong afternoon winds in the Resunga area make flying conditions technically challenging. Nepal Airlines stated that morning flights are more suitable for smooth operations due to reduced air pressure and better weather stability.
Boost to Regional Connectivity
The resumption of regular air services is expected to significantly benefit local residents, traders, and travelers, offering a faster and more convenient alternative to long road journeys between Gulmi and the capital. The move also marks a step forward in strengthening air connectivity to Nepal’s hill districts, supporting both mobility and local economic activities.
Resunga Airport, which began regular operations in recent years, has played a crucial role in connecting the mid-hill region to the country’s main economic centers. With the reinstatement of four weekly flights, the district is once again poised to enjoy consistent air connectivity after months of limited service.

Nepal Airlines’ Commitment to Rural Air Services
Nepal Airlines continues to be one of the few operators providing rural air connectivity in Nepal, linking remote and hilly regions through its Twin Otter fleet. The national flag carrier has reiterated its commitment to ensuring accessibility and reliability for passengers from less-connected districts.
The airline’s efforts to restore flights from Resunga highlight its dedication to maintaining regional routes despite operational challenges. With the resumption of these flights, Gulmi residents can now expect improved travel frequency and accessibility to essential services and opportunities in Kathmandu.
