‘Nepal Night’ in Geneva Paves Way for Nepal’s Tourism Growth

The “Nepal Night” event held in Geneva, in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, urged Swiss tourists to visit Nepal. On Monday, during the event, Binod Prakash Singh, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Nepal Tourism Board, highlighted Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural diversity, adventure tourism opportunities, and the essence of Nepali hospitality. He invited Swiss tourists to visit Nepal.

Singh also spoke about the diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Switzerland, which has existed since 1956, mentioning the geographical similarities between the two countries and Switzerland’s contributions to Nepal’s infrastructure, technology, and tourism promotion. He also praised Dr. Toni Hagen, the renowned Swiss geologist and explorer, for his significant role in introducing Nepal to the world. Singh further urged Swiss travel professionals and journalists to promote Nepal as a major tourist destination.

Khagvikram Shah, Senior Manager of the Nepal Tourism Board, gave a detailed presentation on Nepal’s tourism diversity, scenic landscapes, and new tourism policies. Dr. Narayan Prasad Regmi, Director-General of the Department of Tourism, assured that Nepal is fully prepared to welcome more Swiss tourists and investors. The event was coordinated by Kundan Sharma Mishra, Senior Officer at the Nepal Tourism Board.

A lucky draw was held during the event, with the winner receiving a 7-day trip to Nepal. The lucky winner was Gennady Gatilov, the Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations.

The event aimed to boost Nepal’s tourism presence in Switzerland and surrounding regions, promoting Nepal as an attractive tourist destination. Nearly 60 distinguished guests, including diplomats, government officials, travel professionals, journalists, and tourism stakeholders, attended the event. Ram Prasad Subedi, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, gave the welcome address, sharing information about Nepal’s tourism potential.
