Breaking Update: Nepal Rastra Bank Unveils Today’s Official Forex Rates

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority of Nepal, has announced the official foreign exchange rates for today, outlining the buying and selling rates for a wide range of international currencies. These rates are determined by the bank based on international market trends and the domestic demand for foreign currencies.

US Dollar and Major Currencies

According to the NRB, the buying rate of one US Dollar has been set at NPR 136.99, while the selling rate is NPR 137.59. The US Dollar continues to remain one of the most widely traded and stable currencies in Nepal, especially for trade, remittance, and travel purposes.

Similarly, the Euro, the official currency of the European Union, is being traded at a buying rate of NPR 160.12 and a selling rate of NPR 160.82. The UK Pound Sterling has a buying rate of NPR 185.20 and selling rate of NPR 186.01, reflecting its strong value against the Nepalese Rupee. The Swiss Franc, another prominent European currency, is being exchanged at NPR 171.97 (buying) and NPR 172.72 (selling).

Commonwealth and Asian Currencies

In terms of currencies from other key trading nations, the Australian Dollar is being bought at NPR 90.21 and sold at NPR 90.60. The Canadian Dollar stands at NPR 100.06 (buying) and NPR 100.50 (selling). For those dealing with Southeast Asia, the Singapore Dollar has been fixed at NPR 107.04 (buying) and NPR 107.50 (selling), while the Japanese Yen (for 10 units) is priced at NPR 9.32 (buying) and NPR 9.36 (selling). The Chinese Yuan is set at NPR 19.11 (buying) and NPR 19.20 (selling).

Middle Eastern Currencies

Middle Eastern currencies, which are commonly used by Nepali migrant workers, have also seen steady values. The Saudi Arabian Riyal is exchanged at NPR 36.53 (buying) and NPR 36.69 (selling). The Qatari Riyal is slightly stronger at NPR 37.59 (buying) and NPR 37.75 (selling).

The UAE Dirham, another widely traded currency due to large numbers of Nepalis working in the Gulf region, is priced at NPR 37.30 (buying) and NPR 37.46 (selling). Meanwhile, the Omani Riyal holds a high value with a buying rate of NPR 355.84 and selling rate of NPR 357.40.

South and East Asian Currencies

Among East Asian currencies, the Thai Baht is being exchanged at NPR 4.22 (buying) and NPR 4.24 (selling). The South Korean Won (100 units) stands at NPR 9.96 (buying) and NPR 10.01 (selling). From South Asia, the Indian Rupee, which has a special exchange relationship with Nepal, is being traded at NPR 160.00 per 100 INR (buying) and NPR 160.15 (selling). This fixed exchange rate system with minor daily fluctuations helps facilitate cross-border trade and movement.

Scandinavian and Other Global Currencies

Several other European currencies have also been included in today’s exchange list. The Swedish Kroner is being exchanged at NPR 14.36 (buying) and NPR 14.42 (selling), while the Danish Kroner has been fixed at NPR 21.46 (buying) and NPR 21.55 (selling). In addition, the Malaysian Ringgit is priced at NPR 32.21 (buying) and NPR 32.36 (selling). The Hong Kong Dollar is being exchanged at NPR 17.45 (buying) and NPR 17.53 (selling).

High-Value Currencies

Among the highest-valued currencies listed, the Kuwaiti Dinar stands out with a buying rate of NPR 448.24 and a selling rate of NPR 450.20, making it the most expensive currency on the board today. The Bahraini Dinar follows with a buying rate of NPR 363.38 and a selling rate of NPR 364.97. These high exchange rates reflect the strength of the Gulf economies and the importance of these currencies for remittance-based income in Nepal.

NRB’s Flexibility and Advisory

Nepal Rastra Bank has emphasized that the exchange rates published are indicative mid-rates and may be revised at any time depending on market movements and international forex trends. The central bank has also mentioned that the commercial banks may offer slightly different rates, often including service margins and transaction fees.

The updated rates are available daily on the official website of NRB, and the general public is advised to check these rates regularly for accurate currency conversion before engaging in any foreign exchange, travel, remittance, or business transactions.
