According to the Nepal Tourism Board, more than 1.14 million tourists have visited Nepal in 2024. As of this morning, a total of 1,147,024 international visitors have entered the country.
Marin Raj Lamichhane, Director of the Nepal Tourism Board, shared that an average of 3,000 tourists have been arriving daily, reflecting a 14% increase in tourist arrivals compared to 2023. In comparison, in 2019, 1,197,191 foreign tourists visited Nepal. This year marks the first significant surge in tourist numbers post-pandemic, as arrivals were nearly halted between 2020 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) latest data, Nepal’s tourism has rebounded by 96% since the end of the pandemic.
Events such as the Nepal Premier League (NPL), the World Buddhist Conference, the International Balloon Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, and various national and international fairs and exhibitions have contributed to the rise in tourist numbers.
