Nepal Shines Bright at MITT 2025, Boosting Tourism Relations with Russia

Nepal’s participation in the Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT) 2025 was a significant success, showcasing its unique travel experiences to a receptive audience at Crocus Expo from March 18 to 20. Led by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the delegation included six private-sector tour companies: Radha Krishna Holidays, Adventure Planner, Kailash View Tours & Treks, Explore Vacation, Friends Adventure Team, and Himalayan Glacier Trekking.

Representatives from the private sector expressed optimism about their engagement with the Russian market. The Nepal delegation was headed by Mr. Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, and NTB Executive Committee Member. His Excellency Mr. Janga Bahadur Chauhan, Nepal’s Ambassador to Russia, also visited the Nepal Pavilion and interacted with visitors, emphasizing Nepal’s commitment to strengthening tourism ties with Russia.

MITT, a prestigious event in the travel industry, marked its 30th edition in 2024 and attracted over 17,000 visitors this year. The Russian market has strong potential for growth, with Nepal welcoming over 13,000 Russian visitors in 2024.

The historical ties between Nepal and Russia, dating back to the legendary Boris Lissanevitch, are being revived, and NTB’s participation in MITT 2025 is a key step in attracting more Russian travelers and bolstering tourism collaboration. With increased outbound travel from Russia in 2025, the Russian market holds great promise for Nepal’s tourism sector.
