The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), in collaboration with the Office of the Honorary Consulate General of Nepal to Rome, successfully organized the Destination Promotion Program in Rome on 26 March 2025. The event aimed to increase Nepal’s visibility among Italian travelers and strengthen tourism partnerships, encouraging more Italian visitors to explore Nepal’s offerings.

Over 30 guests, including officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, travel professionals, and media representatives, attended the event. Mr. Paolo Nugari, Honorary Consul General of Nepal to Italy, welcomed the guests and highlighted the growing interest of Italian visitors in Nepal, emphasizing the destination’s adventure, culture, and heritage.

The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Binod Prakash Singh, Secretary of Nepal’s Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. He stressed the long-standing Nepal-Italy friendship and emphasized Nepal’s cultural heritage, adventure tourism, and unique biodiversity. He also honored Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner for his contributions to Nepal’s Himalayan legacy and announced an upcoming Italian Tour Operator and Media Familiarization Tour organized by NTB.

Mr. Khadga Bikram Shah, Senior Manager of NTB, presented a detailed overview of Nepal’s tourism highlights, including trekking routes, UNESCO heritage sites, and unique travel experiences, encouraging Italian tour operators and media to promote Nepal. The event was moderated by Mr. Kundan Sharma Mishra, Senior Officer at NTB.

Dr. Narayan Prasad Regmi, Director General of the Department of Tourism, closed the program with a vote of thanks, reaffirming Nepal’s commitment to strengthening tourism ties with Italy. The event concluded with a lucky draw, where Ms. Laura Grassi, a Rome-based tour operator, won a 7-day tour to Nepal. This successful event serves as a vital step in enhancing Nepal’s tourism presence in Italy, with NTB eager to welcome more Italian travelers.
