Nepal’s First Navagraha Temple to Boost Religious Tourism

Religious tourism is on the rise in Nepal, with Arjunchaupari Rural Municipality in Syangja becoming a notable destination. The construction of Nepal’s first Navagraha Temple, inspired by the celestial theme of the nine planets, is nearing completion.

The temple features a nine-armed pillar symbolizing the nine celestial bodies, a rare Brahman idol visible once a year, and a five-faced Shivalinga at its center.

Devotees are encouraged to perform nine rounds of worship, creating a deeply spiritual experience.

This development comes as part of the growing trend of spiritual travel in South Asia, similar to the Mahakumbh in India, which draws millions of pilgrims annually. The temple’s inauguration during Mahashivaratri, with 12.5 million lamps lit, will likely attract religious tourists, particularly from India.
