Annapurna Boost: New Signboards Promote Alternative Trekking Route

Annapurna Boost: New Signboards Promote Alternative Trekking Route

On 2081/10/28 and 29, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Area Conservation Office, Jomsom, successfully completed the installation of new tourist signboards (Sign Postings) along a section of the alternative trekking route from Sauru Village to Chokhopani. Additionally, damaged old information boards along the route were repainted and restored to improve trekkers’ navigation.

Before this, from 2081/10/16 to 18, the office staff conducted a detailed survey of the alternative trekking route to assess its condition and identify necessary improvements. As part of this initiative, waste management and cleanliness activities were also carried out along the trail, ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable environment for trekkers.

This initiative aims to promote and enhance the alternative trekking route, which passes through Ghasa, Jhipra Deurali, Kunjo, Titi, Kokhethanti, Sauru, Chokhopani, Marpha, Thini, and Jomsom. The route offers a scenic and nature-friendly trekking experience, providing an alternative to the motor road connecting Muktinath-Jomsom to Ghasa.

By improving signage and maintaining the trail, this project will encourage eco-tourism and trekking activities, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region while exploring a less commercialized and more serene path.
