The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has strengthened its engagement with key tourism destinations through a series of meetings between its leadership and destination representatives at World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026. PATA’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer met with representatives of several member destinations during the international travel trade exhibition. The discussions provided an opportunity to reconnect with tourism leaders, exchange views on regional developments and reinforce existing relationships. The engagements also highlighted PATA’s continued efforts to maintain close ties with tourism organisations across the region.

PATA Leadership Connects with Destination Representatives
PATA’s leadership team held informal meetings with representatives from different destination organisations while visiting the exhibition floor at WTM London. These included the Minister of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Chairperson of Visit Maldives. The meetings brought together representatives responsible for tourism policy, destination promotion and industry development. They also provided an opportunity for PATA to maintain direct communication with its destination members.

The association described the face-to-face engagements as valuable opportunities to reaffirm shared relationships and exchange perspectives on developments affecting the tourism sector. Such interactions allow tourism organisations to remain connected beyond formal meetings and industry events. They also help maintain communication between regional tourism bodies and destination leadership. PATA expressed its appreciation for these opportunities to engage with its members.
Engagement with Thailand’s Tourism Leadership
PATA’s Chairman and CEO also met with representatives of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) during the exhibition. The discussions included the authority’s Deputy Governor for International Marketing–EMEA and its Executive Director for the Europe Region. Their participation reflected the importance of maintaining international tourism relationships and connecting destination representatives with regional tourism networks.

Thailand’s presence in the discussions added another dimension to PATA’s engagement with destinations across the Asia-Pacific region. The meeting offered an opportunity to exchange views with officials involved in international marketing and European market engagement. While the post did not disclose specific agreements or new initiatives, it underscored the association’s ongoing communication with tourism organisations. Maintaining these relationships remains important as destinations seek to strengthen their international visibility and cooperation.
Türkiye Also Joins PATA’s Destination Discussions
The PATA leadership team further connected with the Vice General Manager for Tourism Operations and Development at Go Türkiye, Türkiye’s official tourism promotion platform. The meeting formed part of the association’s wider engagement with destination representatives at the exhibition. It brought another international tourism organisation into the series of discussions held across the WTM exhibition floor.
The engagement reflected PATA’s interest in maintaining connections with destination organisations beyond its immediate regional network. Meetings with representatives from different markets provide opportunities to exchange industry perspectives and strengthen professional relationships. Although no specific partnership or promotional programme was announced, the interaction demonstrated the value of direct engagement at major international travel trade events.
WTM London Provides a Platform for Global Tourism Networking
WTM London 2026 brought together tourism organisations, destination representatives and travel industry professionals from international markets. For PATA, the exhibition provided a platform to connect with member destinations and maintain relationships with tourism leaders. Its meetings with representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Visit Maldives, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Go Türkiye formed part of these networking activities.
PATA said it values such face-to-face engagements and looks forward to further opportunities to collaborate with and connect with its destination members. The association’s participation reflects the role of international travel trade exhibitions in supporting communication and cooperation across the tourism industry. While the meetings were described as brief engagements, they offered an opportunity to reaffirm relationships and discuss regional developments. Continued interaction among tourism organisations can help sustain cooperation and support the broader development of international tourism.
