PATA Nepal Unveils Bold Tourism Promotion Strategy in China for 2025

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter has successfully promoted Nepal as a premier travel destination in China. The promotional roadshows were held at the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) on December 2 and in Shenzhen on December 4, 2024.

The events aimed to highlight Nepal’s tourism offerings and the upcoming ‘Nepal-India-China Expo,’ scheduled to take place in Pokhara, Nepal, from February 24-26, 2025. Over 250 outbound travel operators and media professionals attended the roadshow, learning about Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and the exciting opportunities for collaboration in tourism development.

PATA Nepal Chapter President Khem Lakai, CEO Suresh Singh Budal, and Professor Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, the NICE 2025 Goodwill Ambassador and Expert Advisor on the China Market, emphasized Nepal’s growing tourism potential and the immense opportunities for tourism exchange with China. They shared details of the Nepal Tourism Year 2025, officially announced by the Chinese government during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit to China.

This roadshow is seen as a crucial step in advancing the objectives of the Nepal-India-China Expo (NICE) program, which aims to boost Nepal’s tourism sector through international collaboration. With the official announcement of ‘Nepal Tourism Year 2025,’ PATA’s promotional efforts are expected to play a significant role in attracting Chinese travelers and investors, furthering Nepal’s position on the global tourism map.
