Damphu Park, constructed by Sunapati Rural Municipality in Ramechhap, is steadily developing into a sought-after tourist destination. Located at the scenic Selfie Hill, which connects Bethan in Sunapati-4 and Hiledhavi in Ward No. 3, the park has recently witnessed a significant increase in domestic tourist visits.
The park, adorned with traditional Tamang instruments like the Damphu and Tungna, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Visitors are drawn to the panoramic sights of popular tourist attractions like Sailung, Gaurishankar Himal in Dolakha, and other nearby regions. The park is accessible via the Lhub-Bethan-Hiledhavi-Galwa road, enhancing its appeal as a prime spot for photography, TikTok videos, and sightseeing.
According to Thulo Kancha Tamang, the chairperson of Sunapati Rural Municipality, the park was built three years ago with a budget of NPR 2.1 million. It aims to showcase the rich Tamang culture, reflecting the community’s heritage. “Our goal was to establish this area as a tourist destination,” Tamang stated.
Damphu Park’s rise in popularity highlights its potential to bolster local tourism, contributing to the cultural and economic growth of the region.
