Pokhara Tourism Campaign Launched to Promote Mid-Hill Highway Destinations

To promote domestic tourism, the Phewa Hotel Entrepreneurs Committee, Pokhara, has launched a tourism promotion campaign centered on the Mid-Hill Highway under the slogan “Let’s Visit Pokhara, Enjoy Nature.”

The committee stated that the campaign aims to increase internal tourist movement, revitalize local hotel businesses, and promote cultural and tourism heritage along the Mid-Hill Highway corridor. As part of the initiative, tourism entrepreneurs, local governments, stakeholders, and media personnel will engage in interactions across different districts connected to the highway.

Second Phase of Campaign Begins Across the Mid-Hill Region

The campaign, a continuation of the second phase of the domestic tourism promotion program, will run from Jestha 1 to 4, covering key locations including Baglung Bazaar, Burtibang, Rukumkot, and Musikot along the Mid-Hill Highway. A 26-member promotional team departed from Pokhara on Thursday, heading towards Baglung and further into Rukum for program activities.

Tourism Board Highlights the Importance of Domestic Promotion

Bidhai ceremony was held in Pokhara, where Maniraj Lamichhane, Chief of the Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province Office, stated that such initiatives play a vital role in boosting internal tourism and supporting local economies.

He emphasized that tourism promotion programs centered in Pokhara benefit not only Gandaki Province but also other districts along the Mid-Hill Highway, helping expand tourism opportunities across the region.

According to organizers, the program will include detailed discussions on the current status, opportunities, and challenges of the tourism sector, along with strategies to strengthen local economies. The campaign will also highlight tourist destinations along the highway, promote local culture, traditional cuisine, and hotel businesses, aiming to bring hidden destinations into the national spotlight.

Committee Chair Motiprasad Shrestha said the Mid-Hill Highway region holds strong potential for natural, cultural, and religious tourism. He expressed confidence that such initiatives will help bring lesser-known destinations into mainstream tourism. He further added that strengthening collaboration between the private sector and local governments will play a key role in making the tourism sector more sustainable and dynamic.
