Rabin Gurung of Tanahun has secured first place in the 35-kilometer national kayak competition, completing the race in 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 26 seconds. The competition started at Chhimkeshwari Camp on the Trishuli River in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-5, Tanahun, and ended at Kusumghat on the Narayani River in Gaindakot-5, Nawalpur. Gurung was awarded a trophy, medal, certificate, and a cash prize of Rs. 20,000.
Pramod Gurung of Tanahun finished second, completing the distance in 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 45 seconds. He received a trophy, medal, certificate, and Rs. 15,000. Krishna Khadka of Udayapur secured third place with a time of 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 22 seconds, earning a trophy, medal, certificate, and Rs. 10,000.
Bijay Majhi of Dhankuta finished fourth, reaching the finish line in 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 24 seconds. He was awarded a trophy, medal, certificate, and Rs. 5,000. Surendra Chepang of Gorkha came in fifth with a time of 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 5 seconds, receiving a trophy, medal, certificate, and Rs. 3,000.The Gandaki Province Sports Development Committee organized the national kayak competition, which saw the participation of 25 athletes from 11 districts across Nepal.
Shreedhar Sharma, Member Secretary of the Gandaki Province Sports Development Committee, Sadan Baral, Executive Director of the Devghat Area Development Committee, and Set Bahadur Pun, Chairman of the District Sports Development Committee in Nawalpur, presented the winners with trophies, medals, and certificates.
