The Gaurikund has been reconstructed on the premises of the Ishaneshwar Mahadev Temple in Karaputar. This renovation was funded with a budget of NPR 1 million allocated by the Ministry of Social Development of Gandaki Province.
During the inauguration of the newly constructed kund, Gandaki Province’s Economic Affairs Minister Takraj Gurung emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to preserving historical sites.

According to historians, the kund is named Gaurikund because it is believed to be the place where Parbati, also known as Gauri, bathed and consecrated to produce Mahadev. Devotees fetch pure water from this kund to offer at the Mahadev temple during various rituals, including shraddha.
There is a tradition for both childless men and women to light lamps during Shivaratri, believing it will lead to the blessing of children, which is why Ishaneshwar Mahadev is also referred to as Santaneshwar Mahadev.

Hirabahadur Gurung, the ward chairperson of Madhyapashchim Municipality-7, handed over the report of the Ishaneshwar Mahadev temple construction and preservation project to Minister Gurung.
Gunraj Ghimire, president of the Mahadev Area Development Committee, stated that thousands of devotees from India, Bangladesh, and beyond attend the Sitaneshwar Mahadev temple during Shivaratri, and the construction of Gaurikund was completed for the convenience of the devotees as the festival approaches.
