Kidug Leadership Update: Sherpa Kidug New York Announces New Team

Sherpa Kidug New York, a prestigious organization of the Sherpa community in New York, has elected a new executive committee for the 2025-2027 term. The newly formed committee aims to serve, preserve, and promote the Sherpa community over the next two years.

Temba Sherpa has been elected as the president, while Pasang Sherpa (Pinasa) will serve as the vice president and sports coordinator. Lhakpa Tenji Sherpa (Kyama Gumdel) has been appointed as the general secretary, while the secretary position remains vacant for now. Dorje Sherpa (Goli) has been chosen as the treasurer, with Mingmar Sherpa (Phera) as the assistant treasurer.

Other key appointments include Pema Sherpa (Bhakanje, Solukhumbu) as the Cultural Center Coordinator, Pasang Salaka (Jiri) as the Public Relations Coordinator, Ngawang Jimpa Sherpa as the Religious Coordinator, and Phara Dendi (Lama) as the spokesperson. The Volunteer Coordinator role will be handled by Denny G. Sherpa.

Congratulating the new committee, the organization’s General Secretary, Ang Jangbu Sherpa, encouraged them to work actively for the welfare of the community. He emphasized that Sherpa Kidug New York has long been dedicated to preserving Sherpa’s language, culture, traditions, and social support, expressing confidence that the new leadership will serve the community even more effectively.
