Divine Shrawan Celebrations to Enchant Sarangkot Dham Every Monday

In a significant spiritual and tourism event, special religious programs will be held every Monday throughout the holy month of Shrawan at Sarangkot Dham, located in Ward No. 18 of Pokhara Metropolitan City. The Sarangkot Religious and Tourism Area Development Committee is organizing the event.

The Chairman of the Dham, Prem Bahadur Jisi, informed that since Shrawan is considered the most beloved month of Lord Sadashiva (Aashutosh Bhagwan), special events have been scheduled on all four Mondays of the month, Shrawan 5, 12, 19, and 26.

Special Worship and Rituals Every Monday

According to Chairman Jisi, each Monday will feature a series of religious activities including Shiv Poojan, Rudrabhishek, Bhajan-Kirtan, and a grand Mahaarati. Devotees will also have the opportunity to perform darshan (ritual viewing) of Panchamukhi Ganesh, Kailashewor Mahadev, Bhumikalika, and Bhairav, the deities enshrined within the temple complex.

The temple area, which was inaugurated last year by President Ram Chandra Paudel, has quickly become a spiritual hub for devotees and tourists alike. The religious programs aim to deepen spiritual engagement while promoting Sarangkot’s religious and tourism value on both national and international levels.

Cable Car Offers Special Discounts for Devotees

In support of the religious programs and to encourage greater participation, Sarangkot Cable Car has announced a special discount for devotees attending the Mahaarati events.

According to the General Manager of Sarangkot Cable Car, Dinesh Paudel, devotees traveling to the dham via cable car after 4 PM every Monday in the month of Shrawan will be charged a discounted fare of just NPR 250 per person, which includes a round-trip journey.

“We want to facilitate the spiritual journey of devotees during this auspicious month,” said Paudel, adding that the offer applies to every Monday of Shrawan. He also mentioned that additional benefits and discounts would be offered throughout the month to enhance the pilgrimage experience.

Sarangkot Dham: A Fusion of Faith and Heritage

Construction of Sarangkot Dham began in 2062 BS, and the complex has since been developed into one of Pokhara’s most revered spiritual destinations. With a total investment of approximately NPR 350 million, the dham now boasts impressive structures including the Kailashewor Mahadev Temple, a statue of Panchamukhi Ganesh, 108 Gaumukhi (cow-faced) spouts, a Shivaling, and other sacred installations.

These elements collectively represent Nepal’s rich Hindu culture and traditions. Since its official inauguration, the site has drawn throngs of pilgrims and sightseers daily, especially during religious festivals.

A Destination Beyond Devotion

Sarangkot is not only a religious destination but also holds a significant place in Nepal’s cultural and historical tapestry. It is renowned for its Shah Dynasty heritage and is globally recognized for offering stunning views of sunrise and sunset, along with panoramic scenes of the Annapurna Himalayan range and Pokhara Valley.

The blending of spiritual sanctity with breathtaking natural beauty makes Sarangkot a unique place where religion, culture, and tourism converge. With the upcoming Shrawan celebrations, the dham is expected to attract an even greater number of pilgrims, tourists, and spiritual seekers.

Promoting Pilgrimage Tourism in Pokhara

The Sarangkot Religious and Tourism Area Development Committee sees the Shrawan event as a means to promote pilgrimage-based tourism in the region. With religious activities paired with logistical ease through discounted cable car services, the dham is positioning itself as a model for spiritual tourism development in Nepal.

As part of long-term goals, the committee aims to organize similar festivals during other religious months and plans to introduce more infrastructure to accommodate growing footfalls. The combination of religious significance, scenic value, and accessible transportation has laid the foundation for making Sarangkot Dham one of Nepal’s top spiritual destinations.

As devotees prepare to mark each Monday of Shrawan with deep reverence at the hilltop dham, the entire Sarangkot area is poised to become a focal point for both spiritual rejuvenation and cultural celebration. With robust support from the local administration and tourism stakeholders, the event is expected to set a benchmark for religious tourism in the Gandaki Province and beyond.
