Sichuan Airlines Preparing for Regular Commercial Flights at Pokhara International Airport

Sichuan Airlines, a leading Chinese airline, has initiated preparations to launch regular commercial flights at Pokhara International Airport. The airline, which successfully conducted its maiden passenger flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu a month ago, is now aiming to operate three flights per week.

According to an official from Society International, the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Sichuan Airlines in Nepal, the airline is working towards establishing scheduled operations within the next six months.

“Sichuan Airlines is preparing for regular commercial flights to Pokhara. Market research is currently underway to assess the feasibility,” the official stated. “The airline is also exploring the possibility of launching direct flights from Pokhara to various international destinations, including Australia via Chengdu.”

Sichuan Airlines has previously operated charter flights from Pokhara International Airport. On December 11, the airline made history by operating a fully booked narrow-body aircraft from Pokhara to Kathmandu, carrying 126 passengers.

The initiation of regular international flights from Pokhara International Airport is expected to boost connectivity and enhance tourism, positioning Pokhara as a key aviation hub in Nepal.
