Singapore Airlines Supercharges KrisWorld With 4K Screens and Starlink Wi-Fi

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced plans to introduce a next-generation version of its KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system from 2027. The upgrade will feature 4K touchscreen displays, spatial audio, Bluetooth headphone connectivity, personalized entertainment and wellness features, alongside faster internet connectivity.

The new system in Singapore Airlines will initially be installed on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range aircraft, as well as the airline’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 fleet. Meanwhile, Starlink satellite-based broadband connectivity will gradually be introduced on selected aircraft from early 2027 to improve passengers’ access to online services during flights.

Enhanced 4K Screens and Audio Experience in Singapore Airlines

The upgraded KrisWorld system will offer high-resolution 4K screens in different sizes depending on aircraft type and cabin class. Selected First Class cabins will feature displays of up to 32 inches, while Business Class screens will reach up to 22 inches on retrofitted A350 aircraft.

The forthcoming Boeing 777-9 will also offer upgraded displays across all cabin classes, with selected cabins featuring OLED technology for improved picture quality. Passengers will benefit from spatial audio for a richer listening experience, along with Bluetooth connectivity that allows them to use compatible wireless headphones. Active noise-cancelling headphones will be available in selected premium cabins, including Bang & Olufsen headphones for First Class passengers.

Expanded Entertainment and Personalized Features

The redesigned KrisWorld interface in Singapore Airlines will make it easier for passengers to browse content through improved menus, search functions, and category shortcuts. The system will offer more than 2,500 entertainment options, including movies, television programmes, music and podcasts, with content from providers such as Apple TV, BBC, CNA, HBO Max, iQIYI and Paramount+.

Passengers signing in with their KrisFlyer accounts will receive personalized recommendations, save favourite titles and resume selected programmes from previous flights. The system will also provide connecting-flight information and a dedicated Kids’ Mode to help families find suitable entertainment more easily.

Wellness Features and Starlink Connectivity

The new system will include a wellness planner featuring guided breathing exercises, stretching routines, meditation, sleep audio and healthy-living content. Passengers in selected premium cabins will also be able to save preferred seat positions and lighting settings for activities such as dining, relaxing and sleeping. Alongside these improvements, Singapore Airlines plans to introduce Starlink broadband connectivity on selected Airbus A380 and A350 aircraft from early 2027.

The service is expected to support activities such as video streaming, online gaming, social media and remote work. Eligible passengers will continue to receive unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi on Starlink-equipped aircraft, subject to the airline’s existing eligibility categories.

Fleet Rollout to Begin in 2027

The upgraded KrisWorld system will be introduced progressively on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 aircraft and the forthcoming Boeing 777-9 fleet. The airline will also add USB-C charging ports on the selected aircraft, while First Class and Business Class passengers will have access to wireless charging pads.

Singapore Airlines said the upgrades were developed in response to customer feedback seeking greater choice, convenience and flexibility during flights. The airline plans to unveil more details about its next-generation travel experience in Singapore in November 2026, ahead of the progressive rollout from 2027. Feature availability will vary according to aircraft type and cabin class.
