Aina Pahara’s Daring Sky Walk Almost Ready, Set to Elevate Tanahun’s Tourism Scene

Aina Pahara, a rising tourist destination located in Aabukhaireni Rural Municipality of Tanahun district, is set to add a new attraction for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike. The construction of a daring Sky Walk at Aina Pahara has reached its final stage, with the structure expected to open for commercial operation in the coming days.

Sky Walk Built to Promote Tourism in Aanbukhaireni

The Sky Walk, built with an investment of NPR 1.5 million, aims to transform Aina Pahara into a tourism hub, according to Shukra Chuman, Chairperson of Aabukhaireni Rural Municipality. Initiated in the second week of Jestha (May/June), the Sky Walk is now in its final construction phase.

Constructed at a height of 50 meters and stretching 57 meters in length, the walkway features a daring design with one-foot gaps between each step, allowing walkers to experience the sensation of floating in midair. Chairperson Chuman explained that walking on the Sky Walk offers a unique adventurous experience, surrounded by lush greenery, peaceful hills, and an open sky. “The structure is built with high-quality materials and equipped with safety measures, so visitors need not worry,” he assured.

Aina Pahara: Gaining Popularity Among Tourists

Aina Pahara has seen a steady rise in popularity as a tourist destination in recent years. This increasing attraction has led local authorities to enhance infrastructure in the area, including the development of the Sky Walk. Chairperson Chuman believes the new addition will significantly boost tourism and promote adventurous activities in the region.

Located adjacent to the Prithvi Highway, Aina Pahara is easily accessible and is fast becoming a favorite spot among domestic tourists. “During public holidays, the area becomes crowded with visitors,” said Ash Bahadur Gurung, Ward Chairperson of Aabukhaireni Ward No. 2. “On Saturdays alone, over 1,000 tourists visit the site,” he added.

Artistic Rock Sculptures Add to the Appeal

One of Aina Pahara’s standout features is the artistic rock carvings that have captivated tourists. Gurung noted that the rural municipality has actively promoted the site as a tourist destination, and its proximity to a major highway has contributed to its growing popularity.

Among the carvings found at the site are an image of Lord Ganesh etched onto a stone near a waterfall, along with other sculptures depicting a mother and child, and a fairy. These natural and artistic elements have helped make the site more attractive and photogenic for visitors.

Economic Impact and Infrastructure Development

The site has already proven to be economically beneficial for the local government. The Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality has reportedly earned over NPR 6 million in revenue from Aina Pahara alone.

In addition to the Sky Walk, an aesthetic garden has been developed to further beautify the area, adding to the site’s charm. Located at the foothills of the Chhimkeshwori range, one of the tallest ridges in the Mahabharat mountain chain, the site is enriched by the flow of the Siudhi River, which feeds into the picturesque waterfall that is one of Aina Pahara’s main attractions.

Master Plan for Long-Term Tourism Development

To ensure sustainable development and management of Aina Pahara, the rural municipality has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The comprehensive master plan outlines a series of developments that will require an estimated budget of NPR 100 million.

According to the DPR, planned additions include a statue of Lord Buddha, safety railings, parking facilities, and other infrastructure enhancements. These developments are expected to transform Aina Pahara into a full-fledged tourism complex capable of hosting a greater number of visitors while ensuring environmental sustainability and cultural significance.

Looking Ahead

As the Sky Walk prepares to welcome its first batch of visitors, local authorities and tourism stakeholders are hopeful that the new attraction will not only increase tourist footfall but also create local employment opportunities and spur economic activity in the region. With its mix of adventure, art, nature, and accessibility, Aina Pahara is poised to become one of Nepal’s most exciting new tourism hotspots.
