Spark Car is set to organize Spark Adventure 2025 from Baisakh 26 to 28 (May 8–10, 2025) in Gauritap, Pattale of Solukhumbu. The third edition of the event will be held under the theme “Gateway to Everest”, with more than 200 participants expected, according to Spark Car Director Sitaram Ghimire.
“This adventure is aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and green mobility while spotlighting lesser-known travel destinations,” said Ghimire. “Participants will travel to and from the destination in BYD electric vehicles.” Gauritap is an ideal destination to view Everest and other Himalayan peaks and is reachable from Kathmandu in a single day by road.
Situated at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level, Gauritap holds religious and tourism potential. It lies on the border between Nechasalyan Rural Municipality and Solu Dudhkunda Municipality, about 230 km from Kathmandu.
According to preservation activist Laureshwar Baba, Gauritap is religiously significant because it is believed that Goddess Gauri meditated there during the Satya Yuga. “It is believed the hoofprint (‘tap’) of a cow named Gauri was left on a stone when a tiger attacked the cow while she was giving milk. That’s how the place came to be known as Gauritap,” he said.
Gauritap offers a unique opportunity to view the Everest Himalayan range directly from a four-wheeled vehicle. Peaks over 8,000 meters such as Gaurishankar, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Kumbhakarna are visible from this point.
The region is also home to dense rhododendron forests with more than two dozen varieties. Major religious sites in Gauritap include temples of Gaurishankar–Ganesh, Gauri Cow, and Shiva Panchayan.
Over 200 participants, including high-level government and non-government officials, businesspeople, artists, and tourism professionals, will take part in Spark Adventure 2025.
Day 1 (Baisakh 26): Participants will travel from Kathmandu to Gauritap, Pattale in electric vehicles. They will stay in tent camps at Gauritap.
Day 2: After witnessing the golden Himalayan sunrise, the group will head to Rumjatar. In the evening, a cultural and musical program featuring local traditions and national artists will be held. Guests will enjoy local cuisine and stay in homestays, promoting rural tourism, according to Spark Adventure coordinator Amardeep Bhattarai.
Rumjatar is also associated with the popular Nepali saying “Ghumiphiri Rumjatar.” Once known for sheep herding and woolen blankets (radis), Rumjatar was famous for producing high-quality wool products, which were transported by air to Kathmandu.
Day 3: Participants will return to Kathmandu.
Spark Adventure is held annually to promote tourist destinations with great potential that remain underexplored. In 2022, the first edition focused on bee honey hunting in Bhujung, Lamjung. The second edition in 2023 promoted “Wild Stay with Chauri” in Sailung, located on the border of Ramechhap and Dolakha.
Spark Car, which works in the field of adventure tourism, also provides travel solutions ranging from self-drive vehicles to full transportation services with drivers across Nepal.
