A delegation from the Chinese Diaspora Federation, led by Vice President Cheng Xueyuan, visited the historic sites of Bhaktapur today, underscoring the cultural ties between Nepal and China. Mayor Sunil Prajapati of Bhaktapur warmly welcomed the delegation at the entrance of the Bhaktapur Durbar Square with traditional gifts, including a Bhaktapur-style cap, khada, and a traditional bag.
Mayor Prajapati noted that the Chinese representatives paid special attention to Bhaktapur’s preservation of art and culture, expressing optimism that such exchanges would deepen the relationship between the Nepali and Chinese people. Vice President Xueyuan highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening ties, calling Bhaktapur an “artistically rich city with deep cultural roots.” He recalled the longstanding history shared by China and Nepal, describing the bond as “as old as history itself.”
The delegation, which included members Chu Liu, Lin Xiaofan, Zhao Ruochan, Wang Shang Hui, and representatives from the Chinese Embassy, explored Bhaktapur’s renowned sites, such as the National Art Museum, the Golden Gate, the 55-Window Palace, Siddhi Laxmi Temple, Silu Mahadev Temple, and Chaturbrahma Monastery. They also visited the iconic Nyatapola Temple in Taumadhi Square, Bhairab Temple, Laxmi Narasimha Temple, and the Talako area to observe traditional pottery.
The visit symbolized a commitment to promoting cultural connections and mutual understanding, adding another layer to the enduring relationship between Nepal and China.
