Tamang Everest Summiters Association Nepal Organizes Cultural Program on Lhosar

The Tamang Everest Summiters Association Nepal successfully hosted a cultural program on the occasion of Lhosar. The event also marked the inauguration of the association and included award ceremonies recognizing the achievements of prominent members.

During the program, board members Sanduk Dorje Tamang, Chatur Kumar Tamang, Ghesman Tamang, and Siddhi Bahadur Ghising were honored with the Everest Inspiration Award, Outstanding Achievement Awards, and the Enduring Impact Award. These awards were presented by Federal Parliamentarian and former State Minister for Energy and Water Resources, Suryaman Dong.

Speaking at the event, the association’s chairperson, Sharmila Syangtang (Lama), emphasized the organization’s role in fostering unity, friendship, and cooperation among indigenous climbers. She highlighted the association’s commitment to enhancing Nepal’s mountaineering sector by making it prosperous, well-organized, and sustainable. The association also aims to support Tamang climbers by addressing challenges during expeditions and assisting with emergencies, accidents, and workplace issues.

Furthermore, the association is dedicated to aiding the families of climbers who lost their lives in mountaineering accidents, as well as providing support to injured climbers unable to continue their careers.

The program was attended by notable figures, including Federal Parliamentarian and former State Minister for Energy and Water Resources Suryaman Dong, former Deputy Speaker and Bagmati Provincial Assembly Member Radhika Tamang, Provincial Parliamentarian and former Minister for Water Supply and Energy Tirtha Lama, founder of the International Tamang Council and former chair of Nepal Tamang Ghedung, and Maoist Standing Committee member Parshuram Tamang. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Tamang community and their contributions to Nepal’s mountaineering and tourism sector.
