In a concerted effort to promote tourism, women entrepreneurs from Pokhara are actively involved in boosting the tourism sector. As part of this initiative, the Tourism Entrepreneur Women’s Association Nepal (TEWAN) team, led by its president Kamala Giri, embarked on a two-day visit to Chitwan on Monday. The visit marks the 7th anniversary of TEWAN’s establishment.
During the visit, the team will engage with local tourism-related organizations in Chitwan, particularly focusing on tourism promotion and interaction programs at locations like Sauraha Thakali Kitchen and Hotel Suryodaya. The event will provide a platform to discuss tourism promotion strategies between Pokhara and Chitwan.
Additionally, the team will offer information, brochures, and invites for tourists to visit Pokhara and other destinations in the Gandaki Province, positioning Pokhara as a gateway to Nepal’s natural beauty. This effort is backed by local organizations, including the Ratnanagar Municipality, Ratnanagar Industry Commerce Association, Regional Hotel Association Chitwan, REWAN, and the Small Tourism Business Association Chitwan. The visit has seen participation from 32 women entrepreneurs from TEWAN.
Established in 2017 with the motto “Equal Participation for Sustainable Tourism,” TEWAN has been actively engaged in various tourism development activities. Recently, the organization hosted the second edition of the “Teej Cultural Festival.” Earlier this year, TEWAN took part in an interstate tourism promotion campaign in the Madhesh Province and subsequently conducted a 10-day promotional tour across Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
