A Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Bhairahawa’s Gautam Buddha International Airport was held in the air for nearly an hour due to low visibility conditions. The flight hovered in Bhairahawa’s airspace as visibility at the airport did not meet the airline’s safety standards for landing.
Binod Raut, an information officer at Gautam Buddha Airport, explained that each airline follows its visibility criteria. Thai Airways pilots deemed the visibility insufficient for a safe landing, prompting them to hold in the air temporarily. Meanwhile, a Jazeera Airways flight landed during this period, as its pilots found the visibility within acceptable limits. Raut confirmed that Thai Airways safely landed once visibility improved to meet their standards.
