Karnali Province’s Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment, Suresh Adhikari, highlighted tourism as the cornerstone of the province’s prosperity. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Visit Karnali Resort Pvt. Ltd. in Birendranagar on Saturday, Minister Adhikari emphasized the significant role of the private sector in boosting Karnali’s tourism development.
“We are committed to building a prosperous Karnali, and the private sector’s contribution has been equally important,” Minister Adhikari remarked. He further stressed that mere slogans cannot lead to the development of Karnali, and the government cannot succeed without the active involvement of the private sector.
Minister Adhikari called on the private sector to play a pivotal role in transforming Birendranagar, the provincial capital, into a vibrant tourism hub. Assuring the government’s full cooperation, he expressed confidence in fostering the growth and promotion of private enterprises to achieve this goal.
Karnali Provincial Assembly member and former Industry Minister Krishna Kumar BC emphasized that the flourishing of the tourism industry could significantly strengthen the region’s economy. He pointed out that Karnali holds immense potential for various types of tourism and advocated for the development of large hotels, infrastructure, and programs designed to extend tourists’ stay in the region.
Laxman Kandel, President of the Surkhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that only the expansion and growth of the private sector can help fulfill the government’s targets and plans. He urged the government to create an investment-friendly environment, which, he argued, would attract investors to Karnali. “The role of all stakeholders is equally crucial for achieving sustainable development in the region,” Kandel added.
The event underscored the need for a strong partnership between the government and the private sector to unlock Karnali’s tourism potential. With a focus on developing infrastructure, promoting investments, and enhancing tourist experiences, the stakeholders collectively pledged to work towards establishing Karnali as a leading tourism destination in Nepal.
This collaborative approach is expected to pave the way for economic growth and transform Karnali into a model of sustainable tourism development.
