The association has announced the commencement of the “Engagement of Trekking Tourism Entrepreneurs in Biodiversity Conservation” training, focusing on environmentally sustainable tourism practices and the control of tourism-related environmental crimes. This training, initially scheduled to begin on Shrawan 28, 2081 (August 12, 2024), will now take place at Hotel Ramada Encore, Z-Street, Thamel, Kathmandu.
The training will be conducted in four different sessions to accommodate various participants. The first session will be held on Shrawan 32, 2081 (August 16, 2024), for 50 participants. The second session is scheduled for Bhadra 05, 2081 (August 17, 2024), also for 50 participants. The third session will take place on Bhadra 02, 2081 (August 18, 2024), for 50 participants. The fourth and final session, scheduled for Bhadra 03, 2081 (August 19, 2024), is exclusively for licensed women trekking guides and porter guides, with 50 participants.
The training sessions will run from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Participants who have already submitted their applications do not need to reapply. The deadline for new applications has been extended to Shrawan 31, 2081 (August 15, 2024). Trekking companies interested in participating must submit a recommendation letter from their agency and copies of the trekking guide and porter guide licenses by 3:00 PM on Shrawan 31, 2081 (August 15, 2024). Special priority will be given to women, tribals, Dalits, and backward classes. The training will also include refreshments such as lamb and tea biscuits/cookies. This initiative underscores the association’s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism practices and protecting biodiversity.
