The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that Nepal is currently experiencing the influence of western winds, affecting weather patterns across the country. While the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are experiencing partly to generally cloudy skies, the rest of the country has mostly clear weather. However, dense fog has been observed in many parts of the Terai region.
According to meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane, Kathmandu Valley is likely to remain partly cloudy until the afternoon. The minimum temperature in the valley today was recorded at 8.5°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to range between 18°C and 20°C.
For the rest of the day, hilly areas across Nepal are expected to experience partly to generally cloudy conditions, while most other regions will have clear skies. The hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces may witness light and scattered rainfall, with light snowfall likely in high-altitude and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
During the night, similar weather patterns will persist, with partial to general cloud cover in the hilly areas and clear skies in other parts of the country. Light snowfall is expected at a few locations in the high-altitude and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
Over the next 24 hours, scattered light rainfall is likely in hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with light snowfall in high-altitude regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Additionally, the department has warned that dense fog is expected in many parts of the Terai region on Thursday morning, which could impact daily activities, agriculture, health, transportation, and aviation. Authorities have urged concerned sectors to take necessary precautions to minimize potential disruptions.
