Workshop on Waste Management Concludes in Annapurna Conservation Area

The Area Conservation Office of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) under the National Trust for Nature Conservation successfully organized a one-day workshop on waste management. The event brought together mother groups and women’s groups within the conservation area of Jomsom, fostering active participation and dialogue.

During the workshop, the past contributions and efforts of these groups in waste management were reviewed, emphasizing their role in maintaining the ecological integrity of the conservation area. Discussions focused on strategies for advancing waste management practices and ensuring sustainable environmental stewardship in the days to come.

In addition to waste management, the participants were informed about existing legal provisions governing the protected area, the importance of conserving biodiversity, and the procedures for relief distribution in cases of wildlife-related damage. This initiative also included awareness-building on various other relevant topics, aiming to empower local communities to contribute more effectively to conservation efforts. The workshop underscored the importance of collective action and the role of local women in preserving the ecological balance within the Annapurna Conservation Area, ensuring its sustainability for future generations.
